Like every other professional, police officers have to burn the midnight oil to ensure that everything around them is going well. Police officers have multiple things to handle and they have to manage several things at the same time.

This article will highlight the important duties of police officers:

  • Police officers have to protect life and property of people. They have to enforce various laws & regulations. This might appear a simple thing but it is not. It is their duty that allows people to sleep in their homes without worrying about a burglary or any other crime. It does not mean that there is going to be no crime but proper implementation will certainly decrease such instances.
  • Police officers have to proactively patrol assigned areas. They have to ensure that everything in the assigned area is safe and sound.
  • A police officer has to respond to the calls and they have to report wherever they are. They are required to conduct a preliminary investigation. & follow-up criminal and traffic investigations
  • They also have to conduct interviews for hiring purposes. In addition to interviews, they also have to prepare written reports for recordkeeping. They also prepare field notes of investigations and similar notes are maintained for patrol activities.
  • They also arrest and process criminals and this is a long process. They have to be careful regarding the entire process because it is a risky procedure. They have to face resistance as well and they have to testify in court. At times, they face threats and other issues too.
  • Police officers have no fixed time as they have to go for emergency duties. This happens in times of bad weather or any other natural calamity. required during adverse weather conditions
  • They have to gain financial stability and every police officer must focus on financial management as it is necessary for their personal and professional life.

In a nutshell, police officers have many duties and they are busy with their professional and personal lives. since they have many duties to perform, it is hard for them to have a balanced approach towards their personal and professional life.
